Our shared reading story in the anthology for the week has been The Garden of Abdul Gasazi. This fantasy story is written by Chris VanAllburg, author of The Polar Express and Jumanji. Students had fun trying to figure out if events in the story really happened or not. Skills covered this week include mapping a story (identifying the characters, setting, and plot elements, as well as the ending), and prefixes.
