November Reading Reward/December Reading Goals

Today students who met their November reading goal celebrated with their reward of choice by wearing PJs and watching a short holiday movie.  

A large number of children got to participate, and hopefully for the month of December we'll have even more!  

Earlier this week new reading logs were sent home with new reading goals (number of minutes to read).  Our ultimate goal with this program is to encourage students to spend time reading at home, thus establishing good reading habits.  At the end of the month (actually for this month it will be when we return from break), students will again be asked to return their December reading log.  We will then vote on a reward for those who met their December goals. We have found that students are MUCH more motivated to read/meet the goal when THEY get to help choose the reward.
