December 2, 2011

Mark your calendars . . .

The holiday season has arrived, and with it there are many exciting events going on at KE.

• During the month of December, the KE Boosters are sponsoring a food drive for the Kalona Food Pantry.  To help our students remember that this is a season of GIVING, the boosters are asking that students bring grocery and hygiene items to school to donate.  Check out the flier in today's Friday folder for more information.

Spanish Language Night - Join in the fun on Thursday, December 8 at Washington Township fro 6:30 - 7:30!  Students and families from all M-P elementary schools are invited to learn about Los Posadas, the Spanish holiday celebration.  There will be games, crafts, snacks, and even a pinata!

• Friday, December 9 we will say farewell to Miss Flynn, our student teacher.  Students are welcome to bring a treat to share at our party.

• Happy Holidays!  The KE staff is treating students to a roller skating trip on Friday, December 16 as our holiday gift.  First, second, and fourth graders will skate in the morning, and kindergarten, third, and fifth graders will skate in the afternoon.  The snack bar at the skating rink will NOT be open, so there is no need to send money with your child.

• Third graders have been invited to sing at the Kalona Rotary Club on December 13.  Students should wear "spiffy" clothes that day. :)

• Thursday, December 22 is Grandparent's Day at KE!  This is also our last day of school before holiday break. Students wishing to leave early with their grandparents (11:00 is the end of Grandparent's Day) are welcome to do so, but must have a note from a PARENT.  Students who stay at school will be dismissed at the regular time of 3:25.
