Language Skills

Students applied knowledge of pioneers and wrote a persuasive essay in which the put themselves in the shoes of a pioneer in 1850.  The children chose whether they would have wanted to travel West on the wagon train, or if they would prefer to stay in the East, and then had to give reasons for their decision. We followed the steps of the writing process by brainstorming for prewriting, typing our draft, editing drafts with a teacher, then revising our draft to create a final copy.  Students love using the computer for this, as it is much easier to revise.
