Social Studies and Language Skills

We've been working on a cross curricular project in Social Studies and Language Skills.  Last week students spent time researching presidents Washington and Lincoln (in honor of their February birthdays and President's Day).  We used a video, books, an article, and an online encyclopedia to gather facts and information about these presidents.

Students then used the research that they'd gathered to write a biography about one of the presidents.  This correlates with our study of biographies in our reading anthology too!  Students typed their draft, then worked with a teacher to edit and revise their work before printing their published copy.
