Language Skills
Spelling words this week all had either prefixes or suffixes. We talked about how the addition of a given prefix or suffix to a base word changes the meaning of the word. For example, adding the prefix -un makes the word mean "the opposite of" the base word (untie = the opposite of tie), etc. We also learned about irregular verbs, and focused on the past participle tense (past tense with a helping verb). Students identified mistakes in verb tense and chose the correct verb to use in sentences.
