Reading with Mrs. Hartsock

We wrapped up theme four in our reading series this week! Our shared reading stories were Alejandro's Gift and  The Living Desert.  We compared and contrasted these stories, and reviewed many of the skills we've been working on, such as identify facts and opinions and making judgements.

Students continue to enjoy reading about the adventures of Laura and her family in Little House on the Prairie.  This week we read with a buddy and practiced reading fluently and expressively.

Each student also met with Mrs. Hartsock to review his/her MAP test scores and to adjust lexile levels as they have grown as readers.  Students are required to read from their lexile range when selecting books to read independently in reading class.  We call these books our "just right" books, because they are at just the right level for each student.
