Friday! {Stations}

This week's stations included:
• Time For Kids magazine - the cover story was about bullying this week.  Students read the story and then thought about what they would do in several bullying situations.
• Christopher Columbus packet - we read about Columbus and why we celebrate Columbus Day, and completed some Columbus activities (sequencing, word search, and math coloring page)
• Math catch up
• Typing Personal Narratives for language skills class

Another fun Friday tradition in third grade is Friday Film!  Almost every Friday, both 3rd grades join together and spend the 30 minutes after our last recess (2:45 - 3:15) watching a film.  We watch a movie that correlates with our science, social studies, or reading curriculum.  By watching the film together, we don't have to use 2 class periods to watch a film during a particular class (for example, it would take an hour of social studies time for each class to watch a 30 min. social studies movie) . . . and, it's fun to watch the film together!  Every other Friday, Mr. Cayton treats KE students to popcorn - which goes perfectly with our film!

Today we watched the final segment of Mulan, which we read in our reading anthology. It was fun to compare how the story in the movie and in the book is the same and how it is different.  Check out all of the black and gold clothing today!
