Social Studies

We continue to work our way through the unit, The History of Communities.  Our recent lessons have focused on how communities have changed due to new technology/advances in transportation, communication, and other inventions that have impacted the way we live.  Students were surprised to learn that when Mrs. H was in third grade, there were no cell phones (so we didn't text), we didn't have laptops in our classroom, and there was no internet!  We've also been working hard on using the information in our social studies text as a tool to learn how to find the main idea and important facts in informational text.
