This and That

• If you have not returned your rsvp form to school regarding the last day picnic (one per family), please do so asap so that we can plan for the number of guests coming. If you lost the form, simply write a note indicating how many people from your family will come to the picnic, as well as if your child will leave early with you after lunch, or if he/she will stay until 2:25 dismissal (it is a one hour early out day).

• Both third grade sections have earned a Super Star party for using good library manners in the library/lab throughout the year! Students may bring a snack to eat and a drink (no glass bottles) on Monday, May 20 to enjoy during library.

• We're going on a field trip!  To correlate with our whole Social Studies theme of communities this year, we are going to visit the Kalona Historical Village to learn about the history of our own community. This trip will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 28 (exact times TBD).  No sack lunch will be needed, but it would be helpful for children to wear walking shoes as we will walk to the Village.  If you'd like to come with us, contact your child's classroom teacher and she will contact you with details soon.

• As the year winds down, we'll begin sending some things home.  Look for your child's JOURNAL - a spiral notebook in which he/she wrote daily letters to his/her homeroom teacher, and the teacher wrote back weekly.  This might be a fun keepsake to hold on to! :)

• Your child will need his/her FLASH DRIVE for 4th grade, so we will keep them and pass the flash drives that he/she used this year along to the fourth grade teachers.  If you'd like your child to bring home his/her flash drive for the summer, contact your child's teacher.  If your child does not plan to attend KE next year, please also let us know so that we can return your child's flash drive.

• Third graders get to go SWIMMING on Wednesday, May 29 in the morning.  A note regarding swimming is in folders today . . .students may wear their swim suits to school that morning under their clothes, but should remember to bring undies to change into after swimming.  Please note that students do not need to bring money or snacks, and should NOT bring SPRAY sunscreen, as this can be a health hazard for some students.
